News Details - Winter Rabies Clinic at the SPCA January 23

The Tompkins County Health Department announces our Winter Free Rabies Clinic for cats, dogs and ferrets at the Tompkins County SPCA Pet Adoption Center.

The clinic is from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, January 23, 2013.

The Tompkins County SPCA is located at 1640 Hanshaw Road, Ithaca, NY 14850 (Town of Dryden).

Proof of prior vaccination of your pet is required to receive a 3 year certificate. Ferrets must be vaccinated annually.

New York State Public Health Law requires all cats, dogs and ferrets to be vaccinated against rabies by four months of age. Failure to vaccinate may result in the loss of your pet! Protect your pet. Protect your family.

In 2013, Tompkins County had 3 raccoons, 2 foxes, 5 bats, 1 mink, 1 woodchuck and 1 deer test positive for rabies. Report all bites by domestic animals and incidents involving direct contact with wild animals to the Tompkins County Health Department immediately.

If you find a bat in your home, do not release or discard it. Call the Health Department immediately at 607-274-6688 for further instructions.
