News Details - Watch for Your “R” Decals! Single Stream Recycling Update
Over the next few weeks the County’s curbside recycling collector will be distributing “R” decals that help identify your un-marked container for recycling. Please make sure to set out your recyclables in order to receive a decal in your bin.
With the implementation of single stream recycling residents may continue to use their County recycling bins or purchase a larger container at a retail outlet for their curbside recyclables.
Larger recycling containers may have a lid. They must be no larger than 40 gallons, weigh no more than 40 pounds when full, and be clearly marked with an “R.”
If you miss distribution of the decals, you can pick one up at your local municipal office as well as the Tompkins County Solid Waste Management Division (TCSWMD) office, the Drop-off Area of the Recycling and Solid Waste Center (RSWC), Ithaca Wegmans, and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County.
Recycling calendars are currently available and can be found at the TCSWMD office, Drop-off Area of the RSWC, Ithaca Wegmans, or online.
The Recycling Guidelines brochure will be distributed by mail to all residents in June. Included in this brochure will be a list of new items that you can place in your recycling bin. We apologize for any inconvenience this delay in distribution may have caused, as we have been working to add these new items to our program.
